Chateau de Kistinic from Vimeo.

The Chateau de Kistinic is unique. A beautiful, perfectly proportioned small chateau set in a magnificent park of 15ha (38 acres) within the boundaries of the small city of Quimper. It is not often that one finds such verdant luxury literally walking distance from the centre of one of France’s most beautiful, medieval cities, Quimper, a dynamic hub of 60 000 people with it’s own airport.  Schools, shops and restaurants are all very close and yet you are just 20 minutes from the huge choice of beautiful beaches of Southern Finistere.

The chateau itself is situated in the middle of the park with beautiful views in each direction.  It has complete privacy and tranquility. The building dates from 1874 and is built from noble materials and to standards no longer practiced today. The chateau was completely renovated between 2000 and 2004, with modern electrics and plumbing, a recent fuel boiler as well as a state of the art log boiler for those who want to be totally self sufficient (this heats the central heating system and hot water with logs from the land). The living areas are beautifully proportioned with high ceilings and French windows which look out over the sweeping views of the garden. The two main bedroom suites are sumptuous and beautiful with lots of light and have their own bathrooms and dressing rooms. There are a further four bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. There is a modern fully equipped Poggenpohl Kitchen, in addition there is a good size cinema, an office, a workshop and an art studio. The chateau has been recently redecorated and the roof was replaced in 2015. The level of comfort and finish is second to none. The chateau has a choice of water supply; from its own well, or mains water.

The landscaped park has sweeping manicured lawns and banks of camelias, rhododendrons and azaleas. The woodlands are listed as a protected area of natural beauty and there are a variety of remarkable, huge trees whilst being one of the largest green spaces of the city.

The heated infinity swimming pool 13m x 4.5m is built of local granite and lined with green glass Bizazza mosaic. This won an the Piscines de France Gold award for best swimming pool in 2007.

With 330 sq m. of living space, plus 120 sq m. of ancillary space, the chateau provides spacious living accommodation but is not too large or rambling even for a small family.
