Bye bye 2016, what a year! Thankfully in our beautiful corner of Brittany, we have to say we felt very privileged to escape the madness. Stepping out into wondrous nature, walking the coastal paths and appreciating some of the simpler things in life sure does bring everything into perspective. On top of which, we had one of the best summers ever, with beautiful weather following us right through into late October. We have once again enjoyed a year filled with friends both old and new as we welcome them to our stylish holiday homes. Of course, it makes it even more worthwhile when we receive reviews such as these – all our hard work and attention to detail pays off eventually!
We are busy at the moment, obsessing, maintaining and updating; painting and replacing. Like a mature wine, our houses are becoming ever more refined and hopefully more comfortable and welcoming than ever. The winter solstice has passed and we are now impatient for longer days, spring and our first guests of 2017 to arrive.
Getting here has never been so easy. For those driving across the continent you can avoid the peak Saturday traffic by choosing to stay at Ty Traez or Ty Bili which have a Friday changeover. There are new airlines services from London Luton to Brest with Fly Kiss, Easyjet from Gatwick to Brest and the popular British Airways flight from London City to Quimper. The ferry is very handy if you wish to bring your car, again the roads from the ports of Roscoff and St Malo are usually quiet and hardly ever crowded. Indeed, you can even take advantage of our Brittany Ferries booking offer which gives a 20 per cent discount on crossings.
One of the things which people don’t realise is that even though our coastal holiday homes are beautifully remote and quiet, it is only a short drive to civilisation and to Michelin starred restaurants serving up world-class cuisine! Thanks in no small part to gloriously hot summers sprinkled with rain spells to satiate the land, chefs and foodies alike revel in the bounty of amazingly fresh seasonal produce on offer here in Brittany. This in turn makes the whole region a hotbed of creative gastronomic talent and there are many great places to eat nearby. Being surrounded by those highly-sought after stars (indeed the Finistere region has the most Michelin stars!), when you holiday with Frenchberry the only difficulty will be choosing which Michelin-starred restaurant in Brittany to visit first!
Whatever the season, we love the dramatic and unspoilt coastline on our doorstep and feel truly blessed by the fact that we live so close to the best beaches in Brittany. As well as walking adventures around the Cap Sizun, and along the GR34 which gives access to hundreds of kilometres of stunning coastline; stand-up paddle boarding and using the ocean as a playground for sailing, kayaking or surfing are yet more reasons why guests tell us they love to visit our Brittany holiday homes.
So now all that remains is to send you our greetings for a sensational New Year. We hope to welcome you to one of our unique holiday houses in beautiful Brittany soon.
Warmest wishes, Claire and Andrew
