When you come on holiday to Finistere in Brittany, one of the highlights is the amazing choice of watersports on offer. The 1200km of varied coastline, mean that you have the option of calm sheltered bays and estuaries for kayaking, rowing, windsurfing and dinghy sailing. While the west facing coast is the perfect playground for surfing, stand up paddle and kitesurfing.

Ty Traez and Ty Bili on the Cap Sizun are well placed for all water related activities, the area has some world renowned surfing beaches, and there is a watersports school in nearby Audierne where children can have a go at dinghy sailing, windsurfing and kayaking in the shelter of the Goyen Estuary.

From The gatehouse in Quimper it is possible to hire a kayak at Creach Gwen in Quimper and take a leisurely paddle down the Odet (the most beautiful rive in France). Or you can drive to one of the many beaches in the baie of Audierne and sign up to one of the surf schools for courses in surfing, stand up paddle, kite surfing and windsurfing.

Lostmarc’h and La Palue are great surfing beaches, but nearby Morgat is sheltered and wonderful for kayaking and dinghy sailing.

This area of Brittany is home to numerous clubs and organisations that offer not only the hire of equipment, but courses and lessons by trained specialists. The nautisme finistere website has a great interactive map to help you find the nearest clubs and watersports options to our holiday houses, so you can plan an activity packed holiday.
